Upgrade of the Skopelos Diving Center

Skopelos Diving Center IKE, a provider of recreational diving services in the area of Skopelos – Alonissos, is implementing an investment plan to upgrade its equipment and services, under Action 16931 “Tourism Development” of the National Recovery and Resilience Plan “Greece 2.0.”

Brief project description

The investment plan concerns the strengthening of the company through:

  • The procurement of modern diving equipment (wetsuits/drysuits, buoyancy control devices, tanks, dive computers, and other safety accessories)
  • The acquisition of an electric boat and an electric propulsion engine for the environmentally friendly transport of staff and customers
  • Staff training and certification expenses (PADI Cavern Diver, PADI Tec Rec Cave Diver)
  • Promotional activities and improvements to the accessibility of the company’s website

The investment aims to upgrade the quality and safety of the diving services provided, while at the same time reducing the environmental footprint through the use of electric propulsion.

Detailed project description

The investment plan concerns the strengthening of “Skopelos Diving Center IKE,” with the aim of modernizing all of its infrastructure and services, through four main areas of intervention:

Procurement of modern diving equipment. The company is renewing its core diving equipment, acquiring diving suits, buoyancy control devices, tanks of various capacities, dive computers, and other safety accessories. The new equipment ensures higher standards of comfort and safety for divers, in line with current industry specifications.

Acquisition of an electric boat and electric propulsion engine. The investment includes the procurement of an inflatable boat and an electric outboard engine, which will be used to transport staff and customers to diving sites. The choice of electric propulsion over conventional fuel aims to reduce emissions and noise, contributing to the protection of the marine ecosystem in the Skopelos – Alonissos area.

Staff training and certification. The investment includes expenses for internationally recognized specialized training programs, specifically PADI Cavern Diver and PADI Tec Rec Cave Diver, aiming to upgrade the technical skills of staff and enable the safe conduct of more demanding diving activities.

Promotional activities and accessibility improvements. In parallel, the company is carrying out promotional and marketing activities, as well as improvements to the accessibility of its website, so that information about its services is available to a wider audience, including people with disabilities.

Overall, the investment aims to upgrade the quality, safety, and competitiveness of the diving services provided, while at the same time reducing its environmental footprint through the use of electric propulsion — thereby strengthening diving tourism in the Skopelos – Alonissos area in line with the principles of sustainable development.
